Position Description:
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a laboratory Research Assistant.
The Laboratory Research Assistant is responsible for performing research activities in a laboratory setting under the instructions.
Essential Functions:
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, Western blot assays, cell viability assays, and other assays, preparing solutions and buffers, cell cultures, transfection, and help a senior researcher in the lab with mouse studies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in biology or in a discipline appropriate to position is required.
Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology.
Preferred Experience: Research experience with western blot assays, mammalian cell culture, and mouse study is considered a strength.
HIRING RANGE: Commensurate with education and research experience.
